Kachi Metrali

Kachi Metrali is located in Kanchipuram, TamilNadu.

About:

This is a small shrine in Pillayarpalayam, which is situated in Kanchipuram. The shrine is home to the grand Ekambareswarar Temple, Shivastalam.  There is a temple honoring Sambandar here, and hence the name Pillayarpalayam.

But there is no shrines presently available honoring Sambandar’s Patikams. The Legend says that, Vishnu meditated upon Shiva here to attain Shivaroopam. 

There are two other Shivalingams in the shrine, they are Odha Urigeeswarar (this shrine faces east) and Mutheeswarar, respectively. The Sambandar festival is celebrated here each and every here. The temple has a three tiered Rajagopuram. 

The shrine, Metralinathar faces west here. There is also a shrine to Kamakshi, but it is believed that it originated later. Not just them, there are shrine to Ganesha, Subramanya, Kasi Viswanathar, Bhairavar and many others.
