Sri Ramana Ashram

Situated at the foot of the Arunachala hill, to the west of Tiruvannamalai, Tamilnadu, this is where thousands of seekers flocked to be in his presence. His samadhi shrine continues to attract devotees from all over the world. It takes at least one hour or so to visit this place, which is the perfect place to meditate. The best feature in this place is the roaming peacocks.

Reason to come here

  • Sri Ramana Maharishi

“As a boy of sixteen in 1896, he challenged death by a penetrating enquiry into the source of his being. Later hailed as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi he revealed the direct path of Self-enquiry and awakened mankind to the immense spiritual power of the holy Arunachala Hill, the spiritual heart of the world. Study his teachings, discover his Ashram, listen to audio and view video recordings.”

Ramana’s love knew no bounds. The samadhis for a cow Lakshmi and Dog Jackie and other animals show the importance he had attached to these ordinary creatures , who are other wise silent witness to human’s torture.

At Ramana Ashram you can stay at the Seshadri Swamigal Ashramam, Arunachal Ramana home or Hill top residency. All three are walking distance from the Ashram and affordable although during season they will triple their rates. The best would be to write an email to the Ashram authorities and have a room right inside the ashram for three days for free. Some donation would be expected.
