This stands as one of the popular tourist monument located in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari. The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters east off mainland of Vavathurai. It was built in 1970 honoring Swami Vivekananda, the reason why they built a memorial here is, in 1892 he swam to this rock and meditated. It is said that he attained enlightenment on the rock and that is the reason of the origins of the memorial here. According to local legends, it was on this rock that Goddess Kumari performed austerity.
